Tables of eight can be purchased for $400. Sponsorships are available from $100 to $2,000. Proceeds from the event will benefit Paws and Prayers in its mission to rescue and find homes for unwanted dogs and cats.The organization has adopted out more than 1,000 pets so far this year with a goal of 1,500 set by the end of 2011.Paws and Prayers pulls animals from local shelters and pounds and places them in foster homes.The agency is accepting donations for the silent auction. Miller was crossing Kohler Road near U.S. 30 on his way from one family home to another relative’s home when he was struck by a vehicle driven by an Orrville man about 5 p.m. Friday, according to state troopers.The driver has not been charged, and the crash remains under investigation.State troopers said it did not appear that excessive speed or alcohol use contributed to the accident.The State Highway Patrol is urging drivers in Wayne and Holmes counties to be alert to members of the Amish community who often walk or bike on rural roads.
